* Bill commenced his auto racing career at the age of sixteen. At that time, he joined the Vancouver Island Track Racing Association (V.I.T.R.A.) * His 28 year driving history saw him competing in Jalopies, Stockers, B-Modifieds, Stock Cars and Super Stocks. * Early in his career, he drove Stock Cars for Andre Cottyn, the owner of Western Speedway. * Bill won the Rose City Cup in Portland,
Oregon in 1960. * Bill built a new car, with a Grant King engine. It was his best year. * In 1963, Bill was voted the Most Popular Driver at Western Speedway. * Bill traded the piano he loved to play for a new race car in 1975. It appeared that he loved the race car better than the piano. * Bill became the President of the Vancouver Island Track Racing Association (VITRA) in 1984 and again in 1986. * He build a new race car for his son, Bill Jr., to race. This occurred after Bill Sr. had hurt his neck after two bad car accidents. * Bill became President of the Pro Stock Car series in 1991 and carried on in an Executive capacity with this organization. * He also tried his hand at the Stareter's position for this series. * The family tradition continues, with sons Bill Jr. and Bart showing their talent behind the wheel of race cars. * The 1999 Racing Season saw Bill taking on
the biggest challenge of his racing history as he became the co-promoter
of Western Speedway. This challenge will continue into the millenium
