* Dick is known primarily as a car builder and mechanic.

* Had a very limited stint at race car driving in the early sixties. Earned the nickname of "the bird" after trying to fly one of his cars.

* He started his racing career working with driver Dave Cooper in the 1950's at Victoria's Western Speedway.

* In 1959, Dick built his first race car for driver Dick Willoughby. It was a 1934 Ford Coupe.

* Future cars were built in conjunction with Grant King.

* He graduated to being the chief mechanic of the famous "Daffodil Special" Super Modified race car. This Geoff Vantreight-owned car campaigned throughout the Pacific Northwest's C.A.M.R.A. (Canadian-American Modified Racing Association), with Al Smith as the driver.

* Dick was one of the first builders in Victoria to construct a Super Stock race car.

* In the 1970's, Dick turned his attention to N.A.S.C.A.R. competition. During this era, he fielded cars at several major Winston Cup races.

* His cars competed at such tracks as Daytona and Riverside, with the likes of Bobby Allison, Dave Marcis, Roy Smith, Norm Ellefson and Ross Surgenor doing the driving.

* In 1989, his car won the Busch Pole award at Phoenix Raceway with Roy Smith driving.

* His cars have competed in many international events. They have won in Australia and have competed in such venues as the highly-publicized Japan races.

* Dick continues to field under the N.A.S.C.A.R. banner and plans to compete into the millenium.
