* Frank became involved in the sport of Auto Racing
in Victoria in the early
1950's.
* He became a member of the Vancouver Island Track
Racing Association (V.I.T.R.A.)
and has remained a member to this date.
* He was owner and crew member on a 1933 Chev Coupe
Stock Car which was driven
by Dave Francis at Western Speedway in the early 1950's.
* In addition to owning and working on race cars,
Frank has been an active
club member, serving in various executive positions as well as volunteering
his time and efforts in many other areas.
* He has also held club official positions at Western
Speedway over the years.
* He was the membership chairman and issued pit
passes at the back gate for a
number of years.
* Frank then turned his attentions to the racetrack
infield and ultimately
became the official Pit Boss. It was during this time that Frank's
reputation for level-headed decisions, fairness and congeniality came
to the front.
* Competitors, speedway personnel, fellow club
members and race fans in
general all respected Frank and appreciated the job that he did and the
accomplishments he achieved.
* He was responsible for designing a new time-in
sheet which made setting up
race lineups much more streamlined and efficient.
* Frank was also honoured with a Life Membership
in V.I.T.R.A.
* In 1984, Frank was one of the original founding
members of the Victoria Auto
Racing Hall of Fame -- the first of its kind in Canada dedicated solely
to the
sport of Auto Racing.
