| * Began racing in 1974 in a Demo car at Victoria. The following year, he ran a stock car and finished 8th in points for the year. * In 1976 he again moved up in class to Super Stocks. His best year in this class was 1982 where he won two main events, was awarded the best looking car and crew honours and finished the year 3rd in points. He drove Dick Midgley’s car in the 1982 Winston West Grand National race in Victoria where he finished 5th. He then ran the Northwest Super Stock Series in 1983 * The next season he won 3 Main Events, set a track record, was awarded Driver of the Year and Best Looking Car trophies, finished 5th in the Canada 200 race and was crowned the season Points Champion. * 1985 saw 5 Main Event wins, Popular Driver award, Roy White Memorial Race win and a 2nd place points finish. * He repeated his 2nd place points finish
in 1986 along with 3 Main Event wins, track records, popular driver
award, won the Billy Foster trophy and was 5th in the Canada 200 N.W.
Tour Race. He also competed in the 7-Eleven Race of Champions at Western. *1995 saw him return to the Pro Stock class where he won two Main Events, one of which was the Canada 200. * He set the track record for the class in 1997, then the following year was the fastest qualifier on three occasions, breaking the track record twice and scoring one Main Event win. * In his last year of driving in 1999, he finished as the Pro Stock Points Champion. * Over his racing career, he was excellent
with chassis set ups and knew how to make cars run fast. As well as
Western Speedway, he competed at Grandview Bowl, Cassidy and Saratoga
on the Island, Vernon and Penticton in the B.C. mainland, plus Port
Angeles, Tenino, Skagit, Monroe, Yakima, in Washington and Anderson,
California. * We now
are proud to welcome Rockie Collins into the Victoria Auto Racing Hall
